About the project

Lefrancois Engineering was engaged by the Tahoe City Public Utility District (TCPUD) to provide civil engineering design services for a gravity sewer relocation in Meeks Bay. The improvements were designed to support the Meeks Bay Creek Restoration Project and Caltrans’ Highway 89 bridge replacement and fish passage improvements by relocating sewer infrastructure from the restoration footprint.

Working closely with TCPUD, our team developed engineering plans for a sewer crossing beneath Highway 89, connections to existing facilities, rehabilitation and replacement of selected sewer segments, and abandonment of portions of the existing system.

Our services extended from preliminary design through final plans for permitting, bidding, and construction, with project management, field coordination, responses to District and agency review comments, and bid-phase design support. The project required coordination with Caltrans, the U.S. Forest Service, and TRPA, reflecting the collaborative effort needed to align local utility improvements with regional transportation and environmental restoration projects.
